Author’s ramble.

Hi,
Hope all enjoyed the Super Bowl. I know I did. Not just the game, but the time with my family and the hotwings I made and ate. (Way to many of them. LOL.) Still, that did not stop me from revising this weekend. On Saturday I managed to revise six chapters, over 8,000 words. Sunday, I was back at the coffee house for the first of the day, then home to cook some wings. If things goes right for me this week, I should be able to put Huamn-Skinned Wolves Book 7 into edit mode by next week. Ah, what a relief to think that. It’s been a long time coming and I thank you guys all for your patients. That’s why this week, I only wrote a simple ramble for this blog. I hope you all understand and look forward to next weeks’ Flash Fiction blog post. In the meantime, if you need a Flash Fiction fix you can always jump over to my other blog and check those post out. Have a great week.

Photo Flash Fiction

Hi,

Hope all had a great fourth of July. Mine was great. Spent it with my mom and dad. Perfect way to enjoy myself. Gave me the best setup to go back to my free write. Love it when more of my story springs to life like it came from the pits of the earth.

This week I chose to do a Photo Flash Fiction, so I hope you enjoy what I come up with.

Remember let your imagination soar when you read.

Rain dripped from her hair as she screamed the initial pain of the change from a human body to one that belonged to the night. She’d been told by Jack that it would not be easy upon waking, but to her it felt like every other day of her life. She woke each morning with a deep desire to scream for someone to rescue her from the house of horror that her dad condemned her to five years ago. A house of nothing but women who sold themselves in order to please one man. The man that gave them their next fix. She’d been told over and over that if she only subcummed to the high of whatever drug she was offered that she’d be able to make it through the long hours of standing on the corner. She’d tried to run many nights, each time being caught and taken back to the one who owned her. The one who had stolen her innocence. Who had bought her because she held her viginity close to her heart. She had given up hope on escaping her cruel and abusive life, until the night that Jack purchased her for a couple of hours.

Her first look upon his face put the fear of God in her, but his soft tone and promise to do nothing  but talk to her put her at ease. She had doubted he would live up to his word, but it had been nice to hear kindness. To feel like someone would listen to her. Take her at her word. He had. Then offered to give her the escape that she longed for. Even promised he’d be there upon her new entrance to her new life. Be there to teach her how to cope. Deal. Live. Even protect her from unwanted advances from others. Part of her had expected his words to be a lie, but the way he described his world appealed to her twenty-times more than the one she lived in, so she’d accepted his offer.

“Rachael,” Jack’s tall, lanky body swayed into view, “how are you feeling?”

Her mouth opened and a second scream of pain rippled from her. She had not expected the wave to hit, which is what brought her to her knees. Before she could even stop her loud shrill Jack was at her side wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into his chest, pressing her head into the protection of his body.

“Breath, chérie. Breath.”

Right. That’s was all she needed to do. Breath. Gain control of her own mind. Stop the racing and whirling consuming her mind. Then she could take the next step into her new life.

It had worked. Years of never siring another like me had came to an end by the method that I saw on the TV. Who would have known? How did the creator of the television show known? Why had I tried such an absurd idea?

A scream ripped the air as the woman I loved for the last five years sat on the pile of dirt that had been her grave for one night. Her fangs glistened off the half cloud covered moon. Better yet, was that the blood red lingerie I buried her in had been filled out nicely. Not that she hadn’t looked amazing before, but adding my blood to hers had increased her beauty ten-fold. What other changes had turning her into my perfect mate had taken place over night. Would she crave blood like me? Would she be able to walk in the sun, or be a creature of the night like me? Would it harm her to try? Could I even ask her to attempt such? No. I would not put her at risk. I had learned the hardway that I could not go out during the day.

“I’m thirsty.”

Course she was. Why had I not thought of that? I should have known. Yet . . . how would I have? I’d been a blood drinking creature of the night so long I no longer knew when, or how I became such.

“Teddy?”

“Okay,” I held my hand out. “Come on, let’s go get your some food.”

Lighting streaked across the sky, sending shards of ripples over my bird like arms. It was the one thing I hated about my body. Being an Eagle Shifter left me with thin arms and they always rippled when the wind picked up, or there was static in the air. Last couple of nights they’d stayed in the state of water like waves. The Lords of the Sky have been at each other’s throats since the New Moon. None of my underground sources knew why. All they could tell me, which wasn’t hard to figure out, was that it was major. The Lords never fought each other. Or not since the turn of the century when Zamon’s wife caught him in the bed with her human sister. It was then that the Lords decided it was best if there were only male parings among the humans. Most of the underground subject kicked up a ruckus over what they viewed as disgraceful. I’m still am not sure if it was the fact that the undergoundlings could mate with humans, or if two men would be mating together. Neither mattered to me. All I cared about was finding the perfect mate that would make me happy like my mother and father had been for all their lives.
“You spacing again, son.”
“Sorry, dad.” Ralph shook his head and sighed. “What do you think happened this time?”
His dad looked skyward and then back at his mother. I followed his eyes and found my mother frowning. Not something I ever saw her do. The woman was a post card of happiness. My father worked hard to ensure she stayed that way.
“What’s up?”
“We have to Rebecca.”
“No we don’t.” My mother snapped and crossed her arms. “They left it up to us.”
Left what up to them? Who? If it had been anyone other than my parents I would have interrupted them and demanded to know what they were keeping from me, but . . . Parents did what they thought was best for their children. Or his always had.
“You know it won’t be much longer before he finds out. Best if it is from us.”
“No. He is my son.”
Every muscle in my body tightened and my stomach quivered. My parents was not one to keep major secrets from me. They had always promised me full truth.
“Rebecca . . .”
The sky lit up with a huge streak of lightening and a gray mist drifted down from the middle of it. Seconds later a hazy like image formed in between me and my parents. The shape did not take long to form and when it did, I found myself falling to my knees in front of the main Lord himself. Zamon, the holder of the ability to shift into every animal known to mankind.

Zamon’s image turned to face my parents and gave them a small bow, then refaced me. “Stand my son.”

Phrase Scene

NaNoWriMo is over and for the fourth year in a row, I won. That means that I know have three stories ready for revisions. Looks like next year might be a great year for me when getting books ready for publication.

Still, that is next year. This is still 2017, meaning I have to focus on now, and right now, it is time to write a scene. Phrase for the week is Stuff it. One I hope you enjoy and one that allows your imagination soar.

Have a great week.

Raphael took another look around the place he’d called home for the last ten years. The Combs had been in his life longer than anyone else. He loved them. They told him they loved him. Lies. All lies on their part. Raphael had loved Mr. and Mrs. Combs. They’d been there for him during the most trying times of his life. His mother’s death. His grandmother’s rejection. His father’s point blank denial of him. He never once saw an ounce of prejuicde in them. Why did they? How could they? He was still the same human. Same young man. Same person who came to their door when he was eight years old.
“Raphael, man, you ready?”
No. He was no ready to leave the one place he felt safe. Not that he dreaded moving in with Jake. He loved Jake. The two of them had spoken many times about them taking their relationship to the next level, but Raphael had not expected it so soon. He’d wanted to finish college first.
“Come on, man.”
Raphael reached up and let his hand rest against Jake’s cheek as he rested his head on Rapael’s shoulder. “I can’t believe this.”
“I know man, but they made their selves clear.”
Boy had they. The moment Mr. Combs came in and found Raphael kissing Jake, the entire atmosphere had shifted from loving and caring to rage and disgust. The two had words, harsh and unforgettable words, but the last words Mr. Combs had said to him was the cruelest and drifted through Raphael’s mind every other second.
“We should have sent you back the day you arrived.”
Raphael’s entire body had stiffen and his mind spun so fast he had no clue what he said next. Not until two hours later when Jake held him in their beds. He’d came back at Mr. Combs with two words. “Stuff it.” Not the most original, or hardcore, comment, but the only thing that Raphael’s rattled mind could think of. Nothing left for him to do. They’d made themselves clear. He had one hour to pack up his clothes and photos of friends and leave their home.
“Your hour is up.” Mrs. Combs said from the top of the steps.

Raphael squeezed Jake’s hand and turned toward the door. He had no idea where his life would go from there, but at least he had Jake.

Fourth time I adjusted my self. Be more than that thanks to the way the hot little red-hair’s perky little ass cheeks swayed when she paused to twist her hips before heading back up the little cat-walk. Did that string pushing between her cheeks get her hot? Or was it the way the men shouted and shoved money at her? Both maybe. He’d love to know.

“Danny-boy.” Jamie, or beef-cake as most knew him by, clapped me on my shoulder. “Found you a new hottie for tonight?”

“Maybe.” More than likely, but no-way in hell Danny-boy needed to know who. Last time he tried to steel her. Not something a respectable man did.

“She’s a beaut. Not my style though.” Beef-cake turned a chair around backwards and sat down.

The sexy red-haired woman stopped at the pole, swung one leg around the silvery metal and wrapped one hand around the section above her head. What he would give to be the one she climbed like a tree. He’d give her a nice thick trunk to wrap her wet lower lips around.

“You here?”

“Don’t.” Danny-boy crabbed Beef-cake’s hand, before he could snap his finger again. “Put your fingers in my face.”

“Yeah. Sorry, man.” Beef-cake didn’t try to jerk his hand back, he simply took in a deep breath. “I . . . I . . . needed . . . an answer for the boss.”

“Don’t care what you need.” Danny-boy smiled at the red-haired woman as she squatted in front of him, giving him a nice view of the front of her tiger print g-string. “Never snap at me again.” He released Beef-cakes hands and tugged a twenty from his pants pocket, waving it at the woman. She placed her hands on the floor and leaned forward.

He slipped the twenty between the edge of the front of her g-string, an off limits area, but she didn’t object, so he let his finger slip a further inside, barely tracing her bare pussy.

“Like what you feel?”

“Sure do. Bare is sexy as hell.” Danny-boy winked at her as she slithered back away from him.

“Guess you’ve found your night cap.” Beef-cake stood. “What am I to tell the boss?”

“Usually meeting place at dawn.” Danny-boy spotted James coming his way. He gave him a small nod when he paused upon his approach. “Take a seat and let’s discuss business.”

“Mr. Danny-boy, it’s pleasure to see you again tonight.”

“Pleasure’s all mine.” Sure was, thanks to the hotty he was about to get a lap dance from. “I want her attention for the rest of the night.”

“Sure thing.” James looked back at the red-haired lady and pointed at him.

No words were exchanged between James and his dancer, but she knew what her job was.

“Anything else for you tonight, Sir?”

“Nope. That’s it.” Unless . . . “For now.”

“Yes, Sir.” James stood and bowed. “The room is already setup for you.”

“That’s why I keep coming here.” Danny-boy winked. “That and your hot babes.”

“Glad my establishment pleases you.”

“That it does. That it does.” He stood as the red-haired beauty approached. He held his hand out and closed his large hands around her tiny one, tugging her against his side. “Let’s go somewhere a bit more private.”

Flash Fiction Scene

Hi,
Start this week’s post off with an apology for failing to post last week. Don’t really have an excuse, besides I forgot. That happens from time to time.

This week’s post is a bit more on the adventurous side for a flash fiction post. Biggest thing is that I can see this week’s scene turning into an amazing story.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Lord have mercy! What was this woman doing? Trying to draw my load before she saw how well I could use my stick. No way would he tell her to stop. Nope. Not happening. Spider like trindels created chill bumps over his entire body.. Each time the flat of her tongue ran down his dick, he forced himself to remain still. She would not see what she was doing to him. Nope.

Lord have mercy! If she  didn’t stop . . . Course he kept his mouth shut about the state she had worked him into. Enjoyment, like none other, had claimed his entire body as she traced his entire length from the base of his balls to the under skin of his mushroom head.

Magic. That’s what her tongue was. No other way to explain how marvelous her light feather licks across his balls where.

He gripped her curly red hair and pushed her face further into his balls. His reward, or reprimand, was a little nip to the base of his cock.

“Shit!” Travis bit his lip, pushing a moan back. He let no one draw sounds from him. It was his rule. Women were just women. None were special. They never would be. Unless . . . No. He yanked the woman’s head away from his body and pushed her away until she fell backwards.
“Hey - -“
Her words faded as he shoved the balled up bandanna he had balled into his fist.

Wide eyes.
Dull Eyes
Fear.
Muffled shouts made his cock jerk with excitement. It knew what was coming. Longed for the excitement that lay ahead.

“That’s it, bitch.” He ran his hand up her bare stomach, pausing to squeeze her firm tits. “You going to see how well I can use my cock to make you beg. For death.”

Darkness consumed her huge hazel eyes. Her cheeks reddened. Tears bubbled under her eyelids. She knew he meant what he said. Her body, stiffened, yet her athletic legs kicked out, missing him by a mere inch. He felt the smile, but her frozen body told him she knew what lay ahead.

He’d played her game since he coaxed her to his house after a dinner of snails and fine wine. She’d taken his bait like most women. Fine dining enticed her into finding out just how much he was worth. Soon as she commented on how huge his house was, he knew he had her locked down. She was like most woman. Desired a wealthy man to keep her living a high society life. Money grubbing stick on legs with a glow of nothing but success.

Boy was she dead-wrong. Her huge bubble like eyes told him she knew it all too well. The bitch knew she’d fallen right into his game. She’s never had control of the situation. No woman would ever gain the upper hand over him. Nope.

Not even the dead.

Photo Flash Fiction Scene

Hi,
Hope all are ready to celebrate our freedom and those who serve and have given their lives inorder to keep those freedoms for us. That is sort of what today’s flash fiction scene is about. However, the idea for this scene came from a mythical photo I found on Pinetrest.

Have a great week.

Ray hovered over the pool of freedom, soaking up the energy that her forefathers had generosity given their lives for. Each year the current leader of the Energy Fay, sacrificed his life eldest son’s life. Her family had six souls buried inside the depth of the pool of freedom. Kind of made her happy that she was not a male, then again . . .

“You here again?”

“Yes, father.”

He knelt beside me, taking my hand away from the pool. “It is not wise for you to keep visiting the pool.”

“Why not?”

This was a conversation they’d had for the last two weeks. His answer hadn’t explained why since the first night, and Ray doubted tonight would be any different.

“You do not need to know why.” He tugged her up and tucked her under his arm. “Daughter, you are not the one that will give your life for our people.”

“I know.”

“Then there is no reason for you to come here?”

“There is.”

“Why?”

“My son will one day join our ancestors. I want to know where and how the pool of energy gives us the freedom from the Gray Witch.” More than that. I wanted to know why I would have to sacrifice my eldest child one day.

“We do not know that.”

I did. My future had been predicted two weeks ago by the All-Seerer. She had searched me down while I was cleaning my wings and drew me aside and informed me that my destiny had been decided. Not a fact that every daughter or son of the current leader earned. No one knew why some received such a gift and others did not.

I wasn’t sure it was a gift. I might have been better off not knowing that I would come out victorious in the Battle of Leadership that took place each year. Other words, I would defeat my father and take his place.

“You are not going to tell me more than that, are you daughter?”

“No, father.”

“Good.” He hugged me tight and gave me a light push towards my tent. “Get some sleep and do not let me find you at the pool again.”

“Yes, father.”

Flash Fiction Scene – Slow Down

Hi,
Hope all had an amazing week. Mine was busy. I began edits on Collar of Truth, Human-Skinned Wolves Book 4. Still no date of release, but I am working hard on getting it ready to release. I’ve also been trying to do some free writing. Not going so well, but things appear to be slowing down my way. That fact is what inspired this week’s flash fiction scene.

Hope you enjoy.

“Time for a break.” Ralph flopped into the leather recliner, kicking his legs up.

“What are you doing?” Jessica reprimand seemed more like a calm question. Had to be the dish towel she shook in the air. “We have to get this done. My parents will be here in an hour.”

“I know.” How could he not. She’d been counting down the time to their arrival for five days. He’s carried at least sixteen bags of clothes, his and hers, to the storage unit. Then there’d been ten trips of furniture. Dang-gum woman tried to make him take his recliner to storage. He set his foot down on that. He didn’t care what her parents thought. They were married. He provided for her, greatly. He protected her from their enimies. They were the one that put her in danger, and there was no way was he giving up his favorite recliner because it would offend her parents sickly taste of furniture.

“Please, help me. The bathroom still has to be sorted through. So does our bedroom.”

“Hold up.” No way would he let her parents inspect their bedroom. The dang people had a cow when Lacy told them she’d married him while on a trip to Vegas.

“Don’t hold up me. We’ve done pissed them off twice. I won’t have them coming in here and downing my hard work.”

“neither will I, but they will not be seeing how you arragned our home. The home you chose. The home I bought you. They will not be inspecting our bedroom. It is our place of soliace. We clear, honey?”

Her lips turned down and she bit her lower lip. An act she knew he had a tough time with. She knew it got her, her way.

“Not this time, honey. I mean it. You have reformed this house to fit their style, not ours. I have to set my food down somewhere and this is it.” He stood and took the towel from her. “Now, I’ll finish the dishes while you rest. You gone at top speed this whole week.”

Flash Fiction – Mother’s Day Special

Hi,
Hope everyone is ready for Mother’s Day. It is less than a week away. Thankfully, my always early attitude about gifts, and pretty much everything deadline orientated, I am. Still, I wanted to take this Monday’s Post to Remember my mom.

So, Vickie Matthews, Happy Mother’s Day and you are the best mom in the world.

Hope you guys love this week’s short flash fiction.

House has to be perfect. Why in the world did Jacob leave his dirty work socks laying in the hallway? He knew today was the most, or one of the most, importants day in our lives.

“Rebecca,” Jacob grabbed my arm, stopping me from bending to pick up the socks. “Calm down, honey. Everything is going to be perfect.”

“How? You’ve left socks laying in the floor. You left toothpaste in the hallway sink, which all you had to do was wait five seconds for me to piss and I would have been out of our bathroom. You left last night snack plate in the sink, without soaking the pizza sauce off the plate. You’ve yet to take the trash out.”

“Honey, breath. Breath.” Jacob tugged me over to the antique accent chair in the hallway. “Sit. Breath. Relax.” He knelt in front of me and took hold of my face. “My mother will love you. You do not have to worry about that. These are all small things.”

He was right. They were, but it was the small things that mothers, and future mother-in-laws would pay attention to. Or I would at least. If I was meeting a son’s future wife I would check every crook and crany to make sure she could take care of my son and the home he works hard to provide.

“I’ve cleaned the hallway sink. I was about to pick up my socks. I’ll get the trash next and clean my plate.” He leaned his head against mine. “You sit here and calm down. Rest. Everything is going to be perfect. My mom will love you.”

“You think?”

“I know she will.”

“Why?”

“Because I do.” He kissed me, melting my entire body. Best way to calm any woman down was a toe-curling kiss and my man knew how to give those. “Damn. You are magic.” I pushed him back and pointed at the socks. “Get them out of my clean hallway.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Good future husband.” I sat back and watched him sway his ass as he walked down the hallway and into our room.

Johnathan stood looking out the window, dreading what was to come. Only time his lover rambled on and one was when he had to say something undesirable. Wasn’t the first time Ray came home baring bad news. Both times included him sticking his dick somewhere it didn’t belong. Both time Ray promised it would never happen again.

Johnathan was tired of the lies. Tired of the decent. Tired of coming home after a long night of dancing at the club while his lover sat among the hoard of male patrons begging for a fleeting moment of his time.

“Are you listening?” Ray’s hand ran down his spine, making Johanthan’s skin crawl. “I promise I did nothing.”

Huh? Did nothing? What in the world had Ray said?

“Sweetheart, did you hear me?”

“No.” Johnathan stepped away from Ray’s roaming hand and glared out the window. “Did not want to hear you say it again.”

“Say what?”

“You know what.”

“I told you I did nothing.”

“Like I’m suppose to believe that.”

“You are. I threw the jerkwad out of the club and banned him.”

What? Why did Ray think such actions would help his case. “Don’t care what you did with your lover. I’m done with . . .” He waved his hand in the air.

“What? Why?”

“This is your third strike.”

“My what? Sweetheart, you are not making any sense.”

“Do I have to spell it out.” Johnathan spun and shoved Ray back into the small center island. “I will not tolerate you cheating on me.”

“I haven’t.”

“Twice.”

“Yes. I promised not to the last time and I meant. I have not been with anyone other than you.” Ray shook his head. “What does this have to do with me having to ban a jerk who yanked Tommy down from the stage.”

Huh? What was . . . “What?”

“You did not hear me, did you?” Ray made a step towards Johnathan, but he stepped back. “I told you I confronted the man, but he swung at me. The bouncers took him out and I banned him. He called the law on me, telling them I hit him.”

Shit. He’d thought . . .

“What made you think I cheated on you.”

“Your . . . voice.” Johnathan huffed. “You had that tone you used each time you came to me and admitted your betrayal.”

“Sweetheart, I know - -“

‘Save it.” Johnathan didn’t need to hear his excuses or more apologizes. He needed to be able to trust his lover. Clearly, he couldn’t. Clearly, the last time had done more damage to their relationship than Johnathan admitted to himself.

“Sweetheart, what do I have to do to show you I meant my promise.”

There was nothing he could do. It would take years to rebuild trust, if it was even possible. “I think . . .” No, he was sure there was nothing but time and a bit of separation that would help. Johnathan needed times to clear his head and evaluate his feelings for Ray. “You need to find you a place to stay.”

“No.” Ray rushed towards him. “Don’t give up on us.”

“I’m not. I need . . . space.”

“Please, don’t - -“

“Don’t. I need this. Find you a place to stay.” Johnathan steeped around Ray and headed to his bedroom.

Flash Fiction Phrase Scene - Moving Forward

Hope all is well today. It’s been an amazing weekend for me. I spent a lot of time with my family, gathering stuff to make for the Christmas tree and some outside/inside decorations. I’m going to be super busy painting and creating something other than stories for you guys. This shopping and gathering is what inspired this week’s scene.
Enjoy the rest of your week and remember:

Sunlight shown, lighting the clear blue sky with some yellows and orange. The softness of the image relaxed me enough to do the tuff task I’d put off for over two years. Whoever said moving forward was easy never faced the challenge.
Jane would have came back from the afterlife just to kick my own ass. She told me multiple times during her struggle with MS that she did not want me to mourn her the rest of my life. She wanted me to get back to the life I used to love. The rush of the chase of a stupid criminal who thought he had enough energy to outrun the big bad Joseph The Animal. Little did people know that the name was more accurate than they dreamed possible. What made me good at my job was my extra strong sense. Having a hidden tiger sure gave me a leg up among people.
“You’re procrastinating.” I gripped the gold urn in my hand. “You can do this. It’s simple.”
Boy was it anything but. Hardest task I ever had to do. I had many talents thanks to my tiger, but taking away a human illness was not one of them. My mom had told me I was setting myself up for heartbreak when I married her. Not because Jane would die one day, but because my mom wanted me to wait until I ran across my true mate. I cared less for waiting. Jane was the perfect woman for me. Loyal. Loving. Caring. Beautiful. Awesome. There was no one like her in the world.
“Son,” my dad’s voice had me spinning around, “I thought you might need some help.”
He did.
“I know losing someone you love is hard. Doing as they wish is even worse.”
How did his dad know? He’d been mated for twenty-seven years.
“Joseph, I’m going to tell you something that your mother wanted kept from you.”
“Huh? What are you going on about? Why would mom keep something from me?”
“When I was eighteen I met and married a human woman. I loved her with all my heart.” His father sighed. “Part of me always will.”
His dad had married a human? Wow. Not something I ever considered as a possibility.
“A year after we married she gave me a beautiful little girl. I watched her take her first step. Heard her first word.”
A unknown child. I sat the urn down before I dropped it. My job was to release Jane’s ashes across the orchid meadow where we met. Not break the urn and dump her ashes like a fool.
“The day after her fourth birthday I met your mother. There was no denying she was my mate. There was no denying what I had to do. No matter how much it hurt and boy did it. I told your mother upfront about my wife and daughter. We discussed how to handle things.” His dad wiped his brow and looked up at the sky. “Your mother and me knew the pull of the mate would not allow us to be apart for long. I went home and broke the news to my wife. She was so ticked at me that she took our daughter and left the house. Five hours later, the law came to the house and informed me of the wreck that took her life.”
Shit. That had to be hard. A daughter gone along with the woman he loved. His father must have blamed himself for their loss. Had part of his father blamed his mate? I would have. I would have blamed anyone for Jane’s passing if there was someone to take it. There was.
“Took me about five months to come to terms with what had happened. Your mother helped me deal, but it was no easy on her. Do you see why she was so deadest on you waiting to find your mate? She wanted to save you from the pain I suffered.”
He did, but still did not agree with his mother’s thoughts. “Do you regret your time with your wife and daughter?”
“Not one minutes.”
“I do not regret one minute of my time with Jane. Never will.”
“I know son.” I picked up the urn and opened it. “Join me in putting my wife to rest.”
“Would be my honor.”

What to do? What to do? Red, orange flames flowed from the ground. Not like any fire he’d ever saw. Nope. There was no smoke to choke you or make your eyes sting. There was only heat and it crept towards him, no one else. It consumed nothing, not even the browning grass under it. The strange flame had its non-existing eye set on him.
“Move, Theo.”
Theo whipped his head towards Sal, the one friend he had since first grade. What was Sal doing there? He couldn’t let his best bud come to his rescue. The flame was deadest on his target and that wasn’t Sal. Sal needed to remain far from the sitatuion at hand.
“Get out of here.”
Theo darted to his left, taking the trail behind him. He knew it well. Should, he ran it four times a day. Who would’ve known a steady routine of jogging would truly save his life one day. The unusual fire did just like Theo expected, followed. Problem was, faster he ran the closer the fire seemed to get.
“What now?” He asked himself, but got an answer from Sal.
“You let me do my job.”
“What the . . .” Theo stumbled, landing hard on his hands. “Where did you come . . .”
“Not now.” Sal stepped in front of him and lifted his hands, chanting in some strange language. Sort of resembled someone talking backwards. The fire was an inch away from him, but instead of touching him it began to shrink and a loud shrill filled the silent night.
Theo watched on as the fire disappeared and the late night crickets began to sing their song of happiness.
“You okay?” Sal wiped his hands on his shirt.
“Okay? You seriously asking me that?”
“Yeah.”
“What the hell was that?”
“Fire Demon.”
“Demon? What the . . .” Darkness consumed him as he heard his mother’s voice.

“He doesn’t know, Sal.”

Flash Fiction – One set of parents

Hi,
Hope all had an amazing weekend. Sure was nice around my area. Hot for sure. This week's flash fiction didn't really come from any specific thing or idea, it sort of just sprang to mind. Hope you guys like it.

What’s going on? Where are . . . “Anyone?”
Caleb spun around in a circle taking in the charred grass, the white looking ash fluttering from the darken sky. What had he missed? He’d only fallen asleep a . . .
“Wow.” There was no way. He’d laid down at midnight. There’d been no frat party at the house last night, so why did his watch still say midnight.
“Bit confused there, son.”
Caleb jerked around with his fist up. He might be out of sync, but he knew how to box. He didn’t have the championship title for no reason.
“Who are you?”
“Good question. Better one is, who are you?”
What the . . .
“Better than that, do you know who your parents were?”
“Of course.” Mitchel and Ray-Lynn raised him into a wonderful church going, respectable man.
“Not your adopted one. Your biological ones.”
“I have one set of parents, no matter whose blood runs in my veins.” Ray-Lynn Tumberland had tried for years to get him to forgive the woman and man who’d dropped him on their doorstep an hour after he was born. He just hadn’t been able to and what did that have o do with the earth being destroyed.
“Understand how you feel, but I can enlighten you a bit more on your birth and why you are no longer on the Earthly Realm.”

The high-noon sun glistened off the sheets of metal spread over the dark brown grass, which had been starved for water and light for over ten years. Rivers of life giving blood had soaked into the ground after each hard fought battle between us mere humans and Rice Hunger’s killing robotic army. Those days was long behind us, Chewy hoped.
Part of him thought he didn’t deserve to see the future peaceful world that awaited all the tried patrons of the world. He’d contributed to the demise of the earth and humanity all for love. Rice Hunger had been a marvelous man when he met him. Had a well-laid out plan of halting the destruction of the earth. Swore he could eliminate hunger, poverty, and violence. Nothing but lies of a power hungry greedy man.
Rice had stolen his research on how affordable and time saving people having robots to do their daily chores were and given it a scientist who manupliated my idea and created an army of fighters.
“Chewy,” Chris patted his shoulder, “you need medical help?”
“Nope.” Even if he did, he hadn’t earned it and wouldn’t accept it. “Anyone harmed?”
“No. CR worked perfect. Took out all six of Rice’s robots in one sweep of his arm.”
“Good.” More than. Meant he could begin more hour and hours of redeeming hard work.
“How long you need to make enough to break Rice’s strong hold?”
Chewy had no idea. Rice’s scienstist knew he worked the last six years on creating something to aid the world, meaning he’d been stockpiling more army robots. Chewy hadn’t been able to do the same. He had shell after shell of robots ready for the microchip that would operate them, but it took time to code each of them.
“Not sure. I’m going to get right to work, though.”
He didn’t wait for Chris to object to him going back to the grind.

The time had come. He wasn’t ready. Nerves ate at his skin, causing him to rub his arm to a blood red color. Ironic, sort of. The Crystal Ball two feet in front of him was about to tell him, Rex Bawford, his future. Would he become a White Dragon, a dragon who guided people from the sky. A Yellow Dragon, the cowardly kind who hid among the caves. A Black Dragon, destroyer of enemies. Or would he become the awesome, mighty protector of the dragon world, a Blood Red Dragon.
“Son, it’s time.”
Rex nodded to his father, the head dragon of the East Coast. He lifted his arm, which felt as if ninety pound weights hung from it and hovered his hand over the ancient smooth clear Crystal Ball. In seconds his future would be decided. Was he ready? Yes. No. Loads rested on the color the ball turned. Not only his future, but his father’s and his pre-chosen man. Yellow could condemn his father’s lifetime of hard work. Make all the hours his father spent apart from him and his chosen woman for nothing. Doom his prechosen man to a life of hardship and derogation by the other West Coast dragons. Blood Red could up his father’s standings and make his prechosen man more powerful than any other among the West Coast, sealing his place as the future leader,
Weight of  two powerful men rested on his shoulder. Did he have the strength and courage to lower his hand the mere inches?
“Son,” his father’s voice never wavered or took on an air of command, but Rex knew his father meant for him to get on with putting him at ease.
Rex lowered his hand and watched as the Crystal Ball swirled with white, yellow, black, and red. The white faded away, leaving a heavy mist of yellow, black, and red. The black faded away, increasing Rex’s already pounding heart. He heard his father take a deep breath, but never heard him release it. How could he, his ears thumped loud enough  to drown out a fog horn. He squeezed his eyes closed as the yellow and red colors thickened. He couldn’t watch. If the red disappeared . . .
“Welcome Defender of the East Coast.”
Rex’s eye flew wide. He’d done it. His father’s and his prechosen man’s world was secure. He would protect and serve the East and West Coast Dragons. There were only four Red Dragon’s born each generation.
Rex exhaled and nodded at his father, who grinned for the first time in front of other dragons.
“Defender when will you take your place at your chosen’s side?”
Rex glanced to his left, taking in the long blonde haired man, waiting for him. “Today, sir.”
Rex knew his father hadn’t expected that response. Most took a week or two before they left for their new area, but Rex didn’t want to make his prechosen have to wait to take his rightful spot as leader for another day. He’d waited ten years already. No sense in making it another day.
“Fine.” His father waved his hand and the other dragon’s left with haste.
The noise died down and Cal, his prechosen walked up to his side, squeezing him close. “You know I would’ve been pleased even if you weren’t a Red Dragon.”
“I know, love.” Cal had told Red that multiple times, but he knew how much Cal wanted to lead the West Coast.
“Son,” his dad glanced at Cal and then at him, not bothering to hide his disdain for his son being chosen by a future male leader. His father liked the fact that his son had a chance at becoming a Red Dragon, but had wanted him to choose a woman and give him grand-dragons. “Why are you leaving so soon? Your mother wanted to throw you a exiting party.”
“I know, sir.”
“Then why?”
“Cal deserves to take his place. He chose me ten years ago. He’s waited long enough.”
“This isn’t wise son.”
“Sir, I’m not having this discussion with you again.” Rex wrapped his arm around Cal’s waist. It had taken him a most of his teenage years to come to an understanding of why Cal chose him. He hand never expected him to be chosen by a future male leader, mainly because his father frowned on men being with men. His father had been so vocal about it that Rex had suppressed the fact that he’d found men attractive since he was thirteen. A year and half before Cal chose him.
“Leader Timely,” Cal’s voice held nothing but respect, but Rex knew Cal and his father weren’t on the best terms. “I have told him multiple times that it was fine for him to remain here for the entire month your dragons are allowed, but he is adamant about leaving tonight.”
“In other words,” his father interjected, “you will not order him to.”
“I will not.”
Cal had promised Rex he would never order him around. Cal didn’t believe that him being a leader put him in a higher ranking position than a Red Dragon. Not many Leaders think such.
“Fine.” His father sighed. “I have no other options than to let him leave today.”
Rex gave him a small bow of thanks. “I’ll make sure to see mom before I leave.”

“You best.” His father spun on his heels and left without another word.

Davey couldn’t believe it. How had he overlooked it? He never once thought Greg was interested in him, but here he stood in the buff with a huge boner and said it was all because of him. What was the right response to your best friend of six years, who secretly been the man claiming his fantasies while jacking himself off?
“Do you like what you see?”
Boy did he, but the ability to speak evaded him.
“Going to stand there and stare of help me solve my problem?”
Help him. Davey basically leapt to the living room doorway, luckily dodging the sofa that blocked his direct path to Greg, and yanked Greg against him as he sealed his lips over his.
Perfection. There was no other way to describe how soft and lush Greg’s thin and narrow lips were. One sensual lick and his sexy mouth parted enough for him to gain the first taste of his best friend. There would be no going back from them. No one else would sate the hunger that flared to life the minute Greg showed interest in him
Davey tugged Greg close when he broke the kiss. “You know what this means, right?”
Suckie time to ask. Davey’s entire heart had been engaged at the first touch.
“Sure do. Knew when I walked in here. No, take me, before we both combust.”

All Davey needed to hear.

Flash Fiction – The Gym

Hi,
Hope all enjoyed the A to Z April Blogging Challenge post. I know I sure had a blast visiting so many wonderful sights. There were some awesome themes again this year. Have to say one of my favorites was this mystery who did style theme. It was awesome.
Okay, well this week I’m back to my weekly flash fiction scene post. Over the last six months I’ve been making lots of changes to my lifestyle, one of the biggest is going to the gym. This morning when I sat down to write this post I spotted my gym membership card and the idea sprang to life.
Hope you enjoy this week’s post.

What was I going to do? The wind had relocated the gym’s roof. The insurance company wasn’t sending anyone adjusters to our neck of the woods for a week. I had people depending on the gym to be open. Every day it was closed was money out of my pocket, money I needed. I had some money stashed away, but there was nowhere near enough to pay a roofing company. Might have been enough to buy the supplies, but . . .
“Miss,”
Janice spun around ready to lay into whoever had dared sneak up on her, but the words faded the moment she saw the short, stocky, dirty man twenty feet from her.
“Yes?”
The man nodded towards the destroyed gym. “Was wondering if you needed some help cleaning up. I’d be glad to do the work for a meal a day.”
Shit, fire. Cleaning up after such a horrific storm warranted more than one meal a day. The man must be desperate if he’s really to work for so little. She sure could use the help and in return she’d be doing a good deed, but she’d be paying him more than one meal a day. She’d give him  . . . Oh, she was brilliant.
Janice waved at the roof laying across the parking lot. “Can you help me fix the roof?”
“Sure could. Use to roof for a living.”
Perfect. “Fine. I’ll buy the supplies you need, you can fix the roof, and I’ll pay you with food, place to live, and at the end if I have money left over I’ll give you the extra cash.”
The man’s eyes went wide, but the grin that showed through the ruff on his face was what set Janice’s heart at ease. Her disaster would help another. Nothing better in life than that.

“I’ll get started figuring out what I need, ma’am.”

Last day of the A to Z April Blogging Challenge 2016

Hi,
For those of you visiting my blog this is day 26, the last day of the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Today’s corresponding letter is “Z” Today I chose the names Zac and Zabel. Zac is a pretty common name, but Zabel caught my attention because it is a different take on the name Isabel.
Hope you all have enjoyed this month’s post. I know I have enjoyed the writing and gotten many ideas from the names I’ve used. If my imagination takes off on a few of these I’ll be thrilled. If not, then I hope at least one or two of you fellow writers who visited might gain some spark.
Enjoy today’s post and remember to let your imagination soar when you read.
Have a great day.

Zabel pushed the stray twig of hair behind her ear. The ear he loved to nibble on while curled up watching a movie. There’d been few of those nights as of late. His internship kept him busy, just like her new baker did her. They were due for a long weekend away, just the two of them.
“Zac,” Zabel threw the paper at him, “are you listening to me?”
He shook his head and grinned. “Your beauty is distracting me.” I stood and moved so I stood over here. “What was my woman going on about when she should’ve been in my lap giving me some attention.”
“Attention! I think that’s what got us into the situation I was telling you about.”
Her words had me taking a couple of steps back. Those words stung him, but he knew the two of them hadn’t been in an argument recently, they’ not seen each other much. Last time they’d both been off work for an entire day they’d spent it in bed. Ignored the phone and all. He got a chewing out from his mom over that, until he told her that if they didn’t spend time together she’d never get grandchildren. Not that the two of them where worried too much about having kids. They were both so busy it was unreal.
“I said . . .” she held her hand, “look.”
He glanced down at the long slender plastic stick. “What’s . . . Oh my! Really?”
“Yes, your mom’s getting her wish.”
“Shit! Shoot. I can’t be cussing anymore.” He dropped to his knees and laid a hand over her flat belly. “We’re having a kid?”
“We are.”
