Photo Flash Fiction

Hi,

Hope all had a great fourth of July. Mine was great. Spent it with my mom and dad. Perfect way to enjoy myself. Gave me the best setup to go back to my free write. Love it when more of my story springs to life like it came from the pits of the earth.

This week I chose to do a Photo Flash Fiction, so I hope you enjoy what I come up with.

Remember let your imagination soar when you read.

Rain dripped from her hair as she screamed the initial pain of the change from a human body to one that belonged to the night. She’d been told by Jack that it would not be easy upon waking, but to her it felt like every other day of her life. She woke each morning with a deep desire to scream for someone to rescue her from the house of horror that her dad condemned her to five years ago. A house of nothing but women who sold themselves in order to please one man. The man that gave them their next fix. She’d been told over and over that if she only subcummed to the high of whatever drug she was offered that she’d be able to make it through the long hours of standing on the corner. She’d tried to run many nights, each time being caught and taken back to the one who owned her. The one who had stolen her innocence. Who had bought her because she held her viginity close to her heart. She had given up hope on escaping her cruel and abusive life, until the night that Jack purchased her for a couple of hours.

Her first look upon his face put the fear of God in her, but his soft tone and promise to do nothing  but talk to her put her at ease. She had doubted he would live up to his word, but it had been nice to hear kindness. To feel like someone would listen to her. Take her at her word. He had. Then offered to give her the escape that she longed for. Even promised he’d be there upon her new entrance to her new life. Be there to teach her how to cope. Deal. Live. Even protect her from unwanted advances from others. Part of her had expected his words to be a lie, but the way he described his world appealed to her twenty-times more than the one she lived in, so she’d accepted his offer.

“Rachael,” Jack’s tall, lanky body swayed into view, “how are you feeling?”

Her mouth opened and a second scream of pain rippled from her. She had not expected the wave to hit, which is what brought her to her knees. Before she could even stop her loud shrill Jack was at her side wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into his chest, pressing her head into the protection of his body.

“Breath, chérie. Breath.”

Right. That’s was all she needed to do. Breath. Gain control of her own mind. Stop the racing and whirling consuming her mind. Then she could take the next step into her new life.

Rave’s legs should have given away. He should have fainted. Screamed. Ran. Something. Anything other than stand there and stare into the dark, dreamy eyes of a lion. Yes, a lion. Full on mane with large sharp teeth. Not that he saw those teeth, but he didn’t have to, to know they were there. What kept him rooted in place was the shards of clothes that clung to the lion’s body. Yep. It was the light blue silk shirt that he’d bought Rex last Christmas. And Rex’s freshly pressed, tattered dress pants that laid around the lion’s massive legs. More that that kept Rave in place. His own eyes. He could not dispute what he saw. Nope. No laying it off on being drunk. He’d not drank a drop of liquor in five years. He was high on weed. Not smoked a joint since he was in high school. Nope. He was his normal down to earth self. Had came into his lover’s house like any other night of the week and sat down beside him to decide what to eat for supper while they watched the basketball game. Except . . . wasn’t any other night. Nope.
Rex had told him he had to tell him a secret. Before Rave got ready to absorb something bad his lover had moved to the corner of the room and became a fucking huge lion. Yep. Lion. That’s what had him springing to his feet and what managed to keep him there, until reality hit.
“Rex? What . . . Rex? Is that . . . Shit!”
Soft hands cushioned the back of his head before it slammed into the glass coffee table.
“Rave, babe, you okay?”
“Okay?” Was his . . . Shit. He had been fucking a lion. “Damn.” He ran his hand over his face. “I’m fine.”
“Let me get you on the couch then I will . . .”
“Will what? Go back to being a lion?”
“No.” Rex groaned. “Unless you want me to.”
“No.”
“Then I will sit beside you, if that’s okay.”
“Think you might need to. I need to understand what I . . . what you . . . Hell, did you just transform into a fucking lion?”
“Yes.”
“Explain.”

Photo Flash Fiction Scene

Hi,
Hope all are ready to celebrate our freedom and those who serve and have given their lives inorder to keep those freedoms for us. That is sort of what today’s flash fiction scene is about. However, the idea for this scene came from a mythical photo I found on Pinetrest.

Have a great week.
Remember, let your imagination soar when you read.

Ray hovered over the pool of freedom, soaking up the energy that her forefathers had generosity given their lives for. Each year the current leader of the Energy Fay, sacrificed his life eldest son’s life. Her family had six souls buried inside the depth of the pool of freedom. Kind of made her happy that she was not a male, then again . . .

“You here again?”

“Yes, father.”

He knelt beside me, taking my hand away from the pool. “It is not wise for you to keep visiting the pool.”

“Why not?”

This was a conversation they’d had for the last two weeks. His answer hadn’t explained why since the first night, and Ray doubted tonight would be any different.

“You do not need to know why.” He tugged her up and tucked her under his arm. “Daughter, you are not the one that will give your life for our people.”

“I know.”

“Then there is no reason for you to come here?”

“There is.”

“Why?”

“My son will one day join our ancestors. I want to know where and how the pool of energy gives us the freedom from the Gray Witch.” More than that. I wanted to know why I would have to sacrifice my eldest child one day.

“We do not know that.”

I did. My future had been predicted two weeks ago by the All-Seerer. She had searched me down while I was cleaning my wings and drew me aside and informed me that my destiny had been decided. Not a fact that every daughter or son of the current leader earned. No one knew why some received such a gift and others did not.

I wasn’t sure it was a gift. I might have been better off not knowing that I would come out victorious in the Battle of Leadership that took place each year. Other words, I would defeat my father and take his place.

“You are not going to tell me more than that, are you daughter?”

“No, father.”

“Good.” He hugged me tight and gave me a light push towards my tent. “Get some sleep and do not let me find you at the pool again.”

“Yes, father.”

Been a long time since the feeling had consumed my body. My arms lifted up, newly formed pups following like pros. Birds flocked to the ripples of warmth flowing from my body. The clouds formed a bottle of white puffy mist.

“Second time. Yes.”

Excitement increased the intensity of the flow of power rushing up my legs, arms, and out the tips of my hair. The dog’s breath brushed the tips of my fingers as the pull of the earth’s core roasted the grass around me.

“What . . . Shit.”

The voice sounded smile and far away, but I knew who had approached me before he arrived. Saul came rushing the minute he’d felt one of his followers pull on the coven’s power. There were few who could, and he hated when they did so. There would be hell for me, but showing him I could proved to him that he had competition for his seat among the coven.
