A to Z Blogging Challenge word of the day - Zodiac

I’ve looked forward to posting the word I chose for the letter “Z” since the first of the month. I’ve always found this topic interesting and think other have as well.

Zodiac the circle traced by the sun during its movement through the heaves. It’s divided into 12 sectors, which are associated with a Glyph and a symbol. I’ve attached a couple of photos below of the Glyph and symbol.

Have to admit I’ve truly enjoyed participating in this challenge. I’ve not only been able to spend time going through a resource book of mind, I’ve learned lots of new information and even gained some intriguing ideas for my writing. Hope everyone whose read any of the posting on the Occult theme has as well.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed visiting the blogs of other participants.

A to Z Blogging Challenge word of the day - Year and a day

The last few letters of the Alphabet is hard to find words for. At least the letter Y had a few more for me to chose from. Today’s word is:

Year and a day

It is a modern Wicca and many Pagan traditions where a period of time must be spent studying a given degree or grade before the next one can be received. Turns out that measuring time by a year and a day is an old England tradition. In fact, in medieval English law, if a person was wounded and died with in that time period the one who wounded him could be charged with murder.

Have to admit that last part intrigued me a bit. In my mind, lots of other things could occur in those days in between, especially if the injury wasn’t major and healed up fairly quickly. Oh, well unique and interesting fact none the less. Hope all comes back tomorrow our last day of the A to Z Blogging Challenge and find out what the last word will be.

A to Z Blogging Challenge word of the day - Xaos Magic

My chosen theme didn’t give me much of a choice today. There was only one word listed.

Xaos Magic, which is also called Chaos Magic. It was born in the last quarter of the 20th century. Most of the information listed is based off the word Chaos Magic, which is oftener spelled Xaos Magic. This originates from the science fiction, the Illuminatus, trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. In there they present a theory of magic that centered on sex, and drew heavily on the writing of the previously obscure Discordian movement, which worships goddess of chaos. Chaos Magic focuses mainly on magical techniques and it’s reject of theory and philosophy. According to Chaos magic beliefs are merely tools used to attain specific mental effects and nothing more. There is one saying that is often viewed as a summary of the Chaos Magic viewpoint.
“Nothing is true; everything is permitted.”
This saying is attributed to Hassan-i-Sabbah, founder of the Order of Assassins and repeated often in Discordian writings.

Unique way of thinking in my opinion, not sure what else I can say about Xaos Magic or Chaos Magic as it is more commonly known as.
Two more days of posting left in the April A to Z Blogging Challenge. Hope all comes back tomorrow to find out what letter is chosen that begins with the letter “Y”.

A to Z Blogging Challenge word of the day - Wiccaning

Since this month’s theme is occultism and you’ve got to at least mention Wicca or something related to it when you get to the “W’s” I though todays word would be informational as well as fit into that category.

Wiccaning is the Wiccan equivalent of christening, which is a blessing of a newborn child and places the child under protections of the God and Goddess. Of course, there are different versions, but the most common one goes like this:

The child is presented to the four watchtowers, (is a manifestation of the four directional powers, usually corresponding to the elements) anointed with blessed oil or holy water and passed through the smoke of burning incense. The child is also given a secret Craft name. This name is used until the child is old enough to choose his or her own.

There’s only three days left in the challenge. Hope all comes back tomorrow to find out what “X” word I choose.

A to Z Blogging Challenge word of the day - Vampires

Ah, did you know that even the occult have vampires. Since I enjoy writing about the supernatural I thought Vampires would be an excellent word choice.

Occult lore of vampires is a bit different than the television and even the ones I’ve written about. They don’t suck blood. They see them as night creatures who leave their grave in a colorless more like a spirit form than a physical one and drink life energy rather than blood. One’s life force can be completely drained, which the vampires who do this are called psychic vampires.

We have only four days letters. Hope all comes back tomorrow to find out what letter I chose that begins with the letter “W”.
