Ah, did
you know that even the occult have vampires. Since I enjoy writing about the
supernatural I thought Vampires would
be an excellent word choice.
Occult
lore of vampires is a bit different than the television and even the ones I’ve
written about. They don’t suck blood. They see them as night creatures who
leave their grave in a colorless more like a spirit form than a physical one
and drink life energy rather than blood. One’s life force can be completely
drained, which the vampires who do this are called psychic vampires.
We have
only four days letters. Hope all comes back tomorrow to find out what letter I
chose that begins with the letter “W”.
Have a
great day and remember all the information for this post was found in:
The New Encyclopedia of the Occult by John Michael Greer.
This particular word
was found on pages 500

I have heard of psychic vampires - nasty things draining the life force. I have actually heard some people referred to as psychic vampires because they can drain the energy out of a room by their attitude.

Draining an entire room . . . um . . . good story sparker. I believe I would rather face off with a blood drinking vampire than a psychic one.
DeleteWhat Soph said :). I think I prefer the blood drinking kind - they are easier to spot.

Interesting that the idea of creatures that suck our life "blood"--whether actual blood or energy--has always been present in lore all around the world. I do believe there's people that suck us dry; they're not dead and they don't wander the world in ghostly form, nor have fangs and a red-lined cape, but they do suck in all positive energy around them. Beware! ;)

People can suck away any kind of positive energy, unfortunately most of the time it happens before we even realize what they are doing.
DeleteGreat post for today.
ReplyDeleteNext year I am doing the an A to Z of vampires myself (at least that is the plan!) so there are lot of different types.
