Lowell turned to his left and scooted closer to the edge of the mattress. What good did it do him to watch her back if she kept shutting him out. Laurie never closed down their mate connection before she took the special assignment for the Head of the Supernatural World. He got the importance of keeping her job separate from her life, but shutting own their mate link was . . . pissed him off. He wouldn’t go searching his mate’s mind. He wasn’t a hardcore brute who controlled their woman like most of the werewolf shifters. Laurie knew that. They’d been found each other when Laurie was sixteen. He courted her for six years, before he asked her to finalize their mateship.
Laurie sighed and scooted back so she was pressed up against him. Did she feel his distress and want to ease him? Did she move towards him unconsciously? Did it matter?

Hell yes it did. He wanted the sweet, caring, loving, devoted, exuberant, always surprising him mate back. Not the one who’d been present for the last six months. If she didn’t open their mate link soon he’d have to force it open. The thought sickened him, but he wouldn’t lose his mate because he was in the dark. His wolf wouldn’t stand for a distant mate much longer.

  1. Love supernatural elements in romance—shifters are one of my faves!

  2. What an intriguing couple! I kinda feel sorry for Lowell though.
