We’d been warned. No one listened. No one believed it was possible. It had not occurred in over two centuries. We had all fallen into a safe and secure atmosphere. Last time Planet Green overshadowed our Moon during the day was the Day of Destruction. Over one million people lost their lives. It took almost three decades to recover. Our numbers had barely reached two million and if the results were the same as last time . . .
Not a thought I would allow to come to life. I ruled over the Timbers, a strong and solid race that survived off of happiness and sunshine. There had to be a way for me to stop Planet Green from destroying us again.
“Princess Jordan?”
“Yes.”
“You okay?”
I spun around and narrowed my eyes at Thomas, the one guy who’d always stood beside me and my father. The one guy, I hoped to become my Life Partner.
“Sorry, Princess. Stupid question.”
I sighed and waved him to my side. “It’s fine.”
Thomas stood less than an inch from my side, his hand brushed against mine. Sparks zinged from his hand to mine. Another sign that the two of us would be compatible. The mere idea pleased me. Thomas was a caring and devoted man. Question was, had I wanted to long to announce my intention to him. There was a chance that he would die trying to save me or others under me.
“Princess Jordan . . .”
“Thomas, please call me Jordan.”
“You know I can not.”
“You can if I say so.”
“No. Our way of life is there is no first name basis until the woman announces her intention.”
Hadn’t I just done so? Why else would I have told him to call me by my given name? He knew this as much as I did. The initiating announcement of intention is done in private by the Princess. Not in open public. It was to eliminate the risk of embarrassment incase the chosen male refuses the request. It rarely happened, but . . . Life just showed that unexpected does happen.
“Thomas . . . I think you are missing the point of my request.”
Thomas’s wrinkled forehead as his baby blue eyes lowered in deep thought had me reaching up and smoothing them out.
“Prince Jordan,” Thomas took a step back, but stopped before his first foot hit the sparkling yellow gazebo floor. “You are . . . Oh . . . “His eyes widened and he closed the mere inches between us and cupped the back of my head, tugging me to his lips, answering my request loud and clear. More than. A mere simple kiss is what most women received, but not me. I got a full blown deep, passionate invasion, with tongue and all. I could not help it, my knees buckled and he tugged me closer to him.
“Uh . . . Daughter.”
Thomas abruptly pulled away and put some space between us.
“Daddy,” I grinned over at him, laughing at the shocked expression he wore.

“Thomas, care to explain.”

Flash Fiction Scene – Stop The Anger

Hi,
Hope all had an amazing week. This week’s scene is short and sweet. Sorry, pressed for time today and I hope you enjoy it.

Can’t be happening. What has my world turned into? Total chaos? Devastation? Pain? Horrible dreams? Is it pure over reacting? Maybe. No. It is only fair for people, medical people especially, to talk to their patients before referrals are made. It is not fair for them to allow their patient to receive a call, unexpected and out of the blue, from a complete stranger about a program unknown to them. It is wrong. Unprofessional. Lord, have mercy, my life has turned upside down all because of one simple little phone call. How hard would it have been for the lady to pick up a phone and alert me that I would be receiving a call.
“What is wrong?” Kelly leaned against the door-jam.
“Nothing.” I snapped.
“Yeah, your nose just grew ten feet.”
“Did not.” I looked down to make sure.
“Then why are you sitting there rocking, like you always do when you are over stressing. I’ve not seen you do that since your final exam in Statics.”
Kelly was right. I had found my calm mojo over the last five years and this one incident was sending me into another realm of . . . What? Insanity? Yep. That’s what it was.
“Going to clue me in?”

Nope. Didn’t need Kelly telling me all the things I done told myself over the last two days. Simply, need to stop the anger and move forward. Do what I can and live my life.

Davey couldn’t believe it. How had he overlooked it? He never once thought Greg was interested in him, but here he stood in the buff with a huge boner and said it was all because of him. What was the right response to your best friend of six years, who secretly been the man claiming his fantasies while jacking himself off?
“Do you like what you see?”
Boy did he, but the ability to speak evaded him.
“Going to stand there and stare of help me solve my problem?”
Help him. Davey basically leapt to the living room doorway, luckily dodging the sofa that blocked his direct path to Greg, and yanked Greg against him as he sealed his lips over his.
Perfection. There was no other way to describe how soft and lush Greg’s thin and narrow lips were. One sensual lick and his sexy mouth parted enough for him to gain the first taste of his best friend. There would be no going back from them. No one else would sate the hunger that flared to life the minute Greg showed interest in him
Davey tugged Greg close when he broke the kiss. “You know what this means, right?”
Suckie time to ask. Davey’s entire heart had been engaged at the first touch.
“Sure do. Knew when I walked in here. No, take me, before we both combust.”

All Davey needed to hear.

Flash Fiction – The Gym

Hi,
Hope all enjoyed the A to Z April Blogging Challenge post. I know I sure had a blast visiting so many wonderful sights. There were some awesome themes again this year. Have to say one of my favorites was this mystery who did style theme. It was awesome.
Okay, well this week I’m back to my weekly flash fiction scene post. Over the last six months I’ve been making lots of changes to my lifestyle, one of the biggest is going to the gym. This morning when I sat down to write this post I spotted my gym membership card and the idea sprang to life.
Hope you enjoy this week’s post.

What was I going to do? The wind had relocated the gym’s roof. The insurance company wasn’t sending anyone adjusters to our neck of the woods for a week. I had people depending on the gym to be open. Every day it was closed was money out of my pocket, money I needed. I had some money stashed away, but there was nowhere near enough to pay a roofing company. Might have been enough to buy the supplies, but . . .
“Miss,”
Janice spun around ready to lay into whoever had dared sneak up on her, but the words faded the moment she saw the short, stocky, dirty man twenty feet from her.
“Yes?”
The man nodded towards the destroyed gym. “Was wondering if you needed some help cleaning up. I’d be glad to do the work for a meal a day.”
Shit, fire. Cleaning up after such a horrific storm warranted more than one meal a day. The man must be desperate if he’s really to work for so little. She sure could use the help and in return she’d be doing a good deed, but she’d be paying him more than one meal a day. She’d give him  . . . Oh, she was brilliant.
Janice waved at the roof laying across the parking lot. “Can you help me fix the roof?”
“Sure could. Use to roof for a living.”
Perfect. “Fine. I’ll buy the supplies you need, you can fix the roof, and I’ll pay you with food, place to live, and at the end if I have money left over I’ll give you the extra cash.”
The man’s eyes went wide, but the grin that showed through the ruff on his face was what set Janice’s heart at ease. Her disaster would help another. Nothing better in life than that.

“I’ll get started figuring out what I need, ma’am.”

Jamal slipped his finger through the cuff, loving the feel of the fur hugging tight to June’s tiny wrist. “Not rubbing is it?”
“No, Sir.”
“Good girl.”
Jamal stood back and studied his handy work. His slave’s hands were bound behind her back and he ankles were chained to the floor with her legs spread wide open. He could see the wetness soaking the light curls at the junction to heaven. His cock throbbed in anticipation of what he would soon be doing to his pet. It’d been way to long since he’d played with her. He owned her a nice reward for her patients during his merger.
“You know how proud I am of you?”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Do you know why, pet?”
“I worked hard to please you, Sir.”
“That’s right.” Jamal unzipped his pants, freeing himself as he moved in front of her. “Open wide for me, Pet.”

She obeyed and he slipped his cock into the hot haven of her mouth.

Isabel balled up her fist and slung it toward Ian’s face. She bit back the curse as pain shot up her arm from the harsh impact. How in the world could a man’s face be so damn hard.
“What the . . .”
“Don’t even say it.”
“Why not? Think I deserve to know why you clocked me.”
“Why don’t you think back to who you spent last night with.”
Ian’s face paled and he took a step back. “Listen this is all a . . .”
“Yeah, misunderstanding, just like when I caught you spending the night in your office with your assistant.” She’s spent two days crying her eyes out over Ian’s cheating on her. She wouldn’t be doing so this time. “You’ve got five minutes to pack your crap and get out of my house.”
“Hey, I live here to.”
“Yeah, but I own the house. Not you.”
“We both do. We both paid on it.”

“Don’t matter. It’s in my name, so until I’m told different you are out of here.” She marched off, leaving him standing there staring down the hallway.

Harvey squared his shoulder and knocked on the door. Each time he came to visit his best friend, he struggled with his hormone. Herald was the perfect male specimen. Abs that begged to be licked. Shoulders the longed to be massaged. An ass that deserved eating and fucking every day of its life. Problem was Herald preferred a plump woman than a stud.
“About time you got here.” Herald grinned and waved him inside. “Pizza on the coffee table and the movie is cued up.”
There typical buddies’ night out. There was no talk of relationship or work, only good ole fashion guy’s night out. The highlight and dreaded night of Harvey’s week. There was nothing, but being on his deathbed that kept him away from Thursday nights.
“What’s the movie of the night?” Harvey asked as he tugged his coat off.
“Started to torture you with a romantic, but . . .”
“You knew I’d kick your butt if you did.”
“You’d try.” Herald sat on the couch and tossed the pizza box lid open. “It’s your favorite, meat lovers with onions and peppers.”
“Sounds good.” He snatched a slice and kicked the feet of the recliner up.
Harvey had just started the movie when the doorbell rang.
Herald sighed and stood. “Got to be a sales man. Give me a minute.”
Harvey took a bite of pizza and listened as Herald open the door.
“What you doing here?”
“Wanted to see you.”

And there in laid the biggest problem in his life, Herald’s girlfriend of five years.

He spun around the room, taking in the entire setting. Light red candles filtered enough light into the dining room. The air smelled of fresh rolls and seasoned to perfection steak. The salad was chilling in the fridge next to the homemade chocolate cake. The dark velvet box sat in the middle of Grady’s plate. The kitchen fit the mood for phase one of his plan. The bedroom blinds had been shut down tight and he’d put clean navy silk sheets on the bed. All he had to do was wait until Garry got home from work.
He took a deep breath and released it, but it did little to calm his nerves. He’d been working up to this moment for the last five years. Each time he thought it was time to show his true commitment to Garry something major had come up. First, Garry’s mother passed away. Then Garry’s father went into hospice after a two year battle of cancer. By then, Grady had received a promotion to partner of the lawyer firm and it took up more time than he dreamed of. There relationship had been rocky for a year and half, but the last six months things had settled down and the time fit.
Grady jumped to his feet the moment he head the garage door’s motor. Not much longer before he’d know if Garry would make all his dreams come true or destroy him.
“Hey ba - - Wow! The house smells amazing.” Garry’s keys clanked as he laid them on the small table beside the doorway. “Did you get another . . . Grady, baby. What’s this?”
“Supper.”
“Looks like a seduction scene.”
“Might be.” He took Garry’s hand and tugged him against his body, kissing him softly, lingering a moment after the kiss. “Hungry?”
“Yeah and not just for food.” Garry thrust his hips forward. “What’s up?”
“Go take a seat while I get the salad.” Grady stepped around Garry and slipped around the corner. He pepped around the doorframe as Garry went to his seat. He paused when he saw the box.

Moment of truth was coming and Grady was scared to death. He held his breath as Garry’s shaking hands lifted the box’s lid. A small gasp was what sent chills down Grady’s back, but when he saw Garry’s lips curve upwards, he knew his life would be perfect for the rest of his life.

“You will not do this.” Freddy shouted at his sister.
“You have no right to tell me what I can and can’t do.” She shouted back.
“Franny, I do. I’m the eldest and only living relative you have. It is my decision if, when, and who you mate.”
“By four minutes. Not enough time to give you the right to dictate to me.” His sister squared her shoulder, clueing him in on the upcoming bombshell she was about to drop. “Our Pride Leader agrees with me.”
Why in the world would Pride Leader Combs think his sister would be better off choosing a mate instead of waiting for her predestined mate? Freddy wouldn’t let his sister ruin her life. “No. I won’t give my blessings. You have to have at least one family member’s agreement and I’m it for our family.”
Franny’s shoulder slumped and she threw her head back and roared. “By the lions above, why do you have to be so stubborn.”
“Because,” Freddy stepped towards her and wrapped an arm around her. “Our parents were chosen mates and you see how badly their relationship was.” Their mom and dad had fought every day of their life, right up until his father lost control of his lion and killed her, ending his life minutes later. He didn’t want his sister to follow in their footsteps. He wanted her to have a love filled life, one she could only gain from finding her predestined mate.
“I know this, Freddy, but I’m not them. I’m not going to pick the first lion that shows interest in me. I just want happiness.”
“Then wait until you find your destined one.”
“It is rare for us to find such a love. You know this.”
He did, but it was what he wanted for his sister. “I’ll make sure you visit every lion pride in the world, if you will just wait to find your one true love.”
“Freddy, please don’t make me wait.”
Freddy wasn’t going to give on this point. He’d made his mind up the moment Tobby had begun showing interest in his sister. Tobby was a devious lion, who would do anything to promote his standing. Nothing would do so better than marrying the second richest person among the pride.
“No. You’ve heard my answer.” He laid a hand on his sister’s shoulder. “I’m sorry if it makes you unhappy, but it’s for the best in the long run.”

“We’ll see about this.” Franny spun around and stomped towards the pride leader’s home.

Emmanuel watched as he first ray of sunlight consumed the sky. He’d always loved earlier morning. Feeding and watering the horses before his brothers and sisters were up and running around was the best, or it had been until he met Eli at his grandfather’s bakery. Eli had come in to buy some of the famous cinnamon bread while Emmanuel had been tending the counter. The first thing Emmanuel noticed was the man’s broad chest.
Took him by surprise when his manhood perked up. Scared him more than anything. Men didn’t react to men that way. It was a sin. One that would get his entire family shunned. He’d pushed the thought of Eli away every morning for the last two months. It had begun to affect his working skills, so his father decided it was time to send him on his year away from the community that gave him time to learn how the English lived and decide which path his life would take.
“You ready, son?”
Emmanuel nodded and climbed into the buggy beside his father. “Where will you be dropping me off at?”
“A mile from town.” His father clicked his tongue, getting the horses headed in the right direction. “It will not be easy living among them. You sure you are ready for this?”
“I am.”
More than his father would ever know. He needed this time away to figure out why he was so drawn to a man. He needed time to rid himself of those  horrid thoughts. He needed to see those rich brown eyes again.
They rode in silence until the dirt road turned into pavement. His father pulled to the side and dug into his jacket pocket. “Here you go.”
Emmanuel took the bills his father handed him and looked at them.
“It’s not much, but the point of this time away is to make it on your own. This will get you started. Good luck and take care.”

Emmanuel stepped down and watched his father turn the buggy back toward their little Amish Community. When the buggy disappeared from sight, he sighed and made his way down the road. His life would be changed forever, no matter what he found when he entered town.

Doris sat there staring at the door instead of answering it when the bell rung. How had she gotten herself into this mess? She wasn’t irresponsible. Okay, just once, and boy was it a doosy. The bell rang a second time, forcing her to get up and open the door.
Daniel looked as sexy as he had three months ago when they’d met at the bar and then left together. His rich chocolate colored hair sway to the left with a little curl at the tip of his bangs. His bright smile made her knees go weak. Okay, that might have been due to why she’d reached out to him after three months.
“Hi, how are you?”
“Fine.” What a lie Doris. “Come on in, Daniel. Would you like something to drink?”
“No. I’m fine.” Daniel took off his windbreaker and laid it over his arm. “I was thrilled to hear from you.”
He was then, but would he been when she told him her news. Would he think her a slut? Someone after support? Doris wasn’t neither. She didn’t need anyone’s money. Her parents left her well off. She wasn’t someone who slept around. Daniel was the second man she’d ever been with.
“Doris,” Daniel touched her arm. “You okay?”
“Yes.” No. “Why do you ask?”
“You’re whiter than the curtains hanging over your bay style window.”
“Oh.” Doris sighed. “Let’s take a seat. Got something to tell you.” She sat down in the recliner, hoping the distance between them would give her a bit of courage.
“Shoot. Can’t be as bad as what your face says it is.”
She hoped he didn’t think so. “Keep that thought in mind.” Doris sat up a bit taller and squared her shoulders. “You know how we got carried away three months ago?”
“Sure do. Most amazing night in my life.”
“Well, I hope you still think so.”
“Why would I not?”
“I’m pregnant.” There was the reaction she was looking for. White as a sheet of paper and an open mouth. What she hadn’t expected was the huge smile that fell into place a second later.
“You are?”

Doris nodded, but before she stopped Daniel had her up in his arms, placing light kisses over her face.

He gave his rich brown horse a small nudge to the ribs as he did a mental double check of his supplies.
Sleeping bags. Check.
Lube. Check.
Condoms. Check.
He had the main three items that was needed for his and Cody’s night out. It’d been a month since the two of them had been able to sneak away from the farmhouse. Oh, they had their own room, but there were also four other hands that lived in the house. All of which, were straight. Didn’t seem fair, or Cody didn’t thinks so, to give them a quick lesson on how to male lovers could get when riled up.
“Where you off to boss man?” Clyde asked as he rode up black haired horse up beside him. “Got a hot date I should know about?”
“Sure do.” Clyde grinned at his lover.
“Sounds like a hoot. Where you taking her?”
“Now, Cody Rambler, you know me better than that. I’m a true gentleman.” Clyde winked. “And it’s not a her.”
Cody’s dark brown eyebrows shot up in mock shock. “Well, then. Just what is it?”
“A stud with all the right parts to make me scream his name.”
Cody reached out and tugged on his reins, stopping both of their horses. “Then give me a preview of what’s to come for this stud of yours.”
Clyde had no problem doing so. He leaned over and ran his tongue over the contours of his lips and then up to his ear. He nipped the soft skin right behind Cody’s ear and then said, “Why don’t I just show you, stud.”

Clyde felt Cody shiver and drop his reins. Next thing Clyde knew Cody had kicked his heels and was racing toward the path that lead to the creek they spent many of nights at.

Brooke fluffed the ends of her hair. Brady had called her last night and asked her to meet him at their hometown diner at six. She loved when he came in for some time with her. He’d gotten into the University two towns over and lived in the dorms, so their time together had been limited since he started college. It took her time to adjust to him not being around like he had since their freshman year. They’d met her first day in town and two weeks later they were dating. They’d been clued to one another since then.
“Hot date tonight, Sis.”
“Brady’s coming in.”
“Something up or surprise visit?”
“Surprise visit.”
Brooke hoped that he was going to bring up the subject of marriage again. He had three weeks ago when he came in for the weekend. Okay, she had brought it up. He’d reacted like most men and changed the subject.
“Well then,” her brother winked at her, “enjoy you time with him.”
“Always do.”

Her brother paused as he went to leave. “Just not too much fun or I’ll have to hunt him down.”

Adam remained out of sight as the red-headed beauty battled for her life. She had the perfect round house kick and her punches were solid. She was also making his partner sweat, which not many did. Part of him screamed, “Get your partner’s back. You have a job to do.” Another part of him, the biggest part, was intrigued by the battling beauty.

He knew he shouldn’t be. After all she was a demon, his job was to eliminate them from the world. Adam’s boss didn’t believe in letting one demon go, but there was something about the woman in front of him.

“You going to help me out here.” His partner shouted as he dodged a right hook.

“Looks like you have it under control.” It didn’t. The red-headed beauty that Adam’s boss called Angel Combat slammed the heel of her foot into his partner’s knee, sending him to the ground.
His partner rolled to his left, barely missing the hard foot that was headed for his head. “Quit staring and help me get her.”

Adam sighed and walked up behind the woman, clamping his arms around her waist and arms before she could spin around and attack him.

“Let’s calm down.”

“Hell, no.”

“Now, that’s no way for a beautiful woman to speak to the man who’s going to save her.

“Sure is if he’s going to kill me to save me.”

“Who said such a thing?” Adam knew his partner hadn’t, but the woman, like all demons, knew that if a Demon Bounty Hunter came a calling that they were dead if caught.

“Thanks.” His partner jumped to his feet and pulled the light silver demon blade from his side.

“Why’d you watch for so long. We’ve got six more hits tonight.”

Adam didn’t know. Nor did he know why his cock was growing each time the red-headed beauty squirmed. It was a reaction he’d never experienced before. Demon Bounty Hunters weren’t allowed to be attracted to anyone. Some claimed they had been, but they’d always recounted their words after speaking to the leader of them. Their excuse had been that a demon had controlled their body. Adam knew no one was controlling him. He was more than aware of how his body was reacting to the woman he was supposed to kill.

His partner’s blade glowed white as he pulled it over his head. Just as the blade began moving toward Angel, Adam spun so his back would take the blow. The blade wouldn’t hurt him; it was designated to kill only evil.

“What are you doing?” His partner shouted.

Adam had no idea, but he wasn’t letting Angel die.

What else was I going to be slammed with? My  car died. My landlord refused to fix the heater. My boss was a jerk wad over me being two minutes late. Jerkiness wasn’t new, but he was worse than normal. Made me want to strangle him. Might have if I didn’t need the lousy minimum wage job.
“Miss,” the body builder man at the end of the counter held his empty glass of tea up.
The bell chimed as I picked up the pitcher of tea. I smiled at the Lauder Twins and said, “Take a seat anywhere. Be right with you.”
Both of them gave me their model white teeth smile and nodded. They were beyond the hot on the hotness scale and came in each and every day at the exact same time.  One those rare days when my boss allowed Joan to work the floor instead of doing the dishes they made sure to sit in my section. I was glad to, they left amazing tips. Most of the time it was a 100% tip, but they never left less than eighty percent. Money that I could use.
“How are you guys today?” I asked as I laid two menus down. “Our special of the evening is roast beef with mushroom gravy, potatoes, and green beans. Choice of bread.”
“Sounds good to me.” Jack, the twin with a light strawberry mark under his left eye said.
“Me too.” Randy, the less talkative twin less and smiled at me. “How’s your day going?”
“Fine.” Lie and half, but my customers didn’t need to know my troubles.
“Didn’t see your car in the parking lot.”
“Didn’t drive today.”
Both of the guys frowned, but Jack was the one to inquire. “How come?”
“Wanted to walk.”
“Can’t lie to us.” Randy reached out and touched my arm as I made to walk away. “Please tell us the truth.”
Why did it matter to them that my life was in the dumpster? Wasn’t a new aspect. My entire life had been for the shits since my asswipe of an ex-husband left me holding a shit load of debt, including a mortgage on a six bedroom house, that I told him we had no use for. The bank took it two months after he disappeared and it took what little money I’d saved up to get me a one room apartment.
“Miss,” The guy at the end of the counter lifted is tea glass again.
“Coming.” I said and tugged my arm free. “I’ll put your order in and bring you your drinks in a minute.”
“Okay.” Jack shook his head at his brother, who started to retake hold of my arm. “She’s got work to do. She’ll tell us when she’s ready.”

Unlikely, but I’d let them keep their hopes up.

Flash Fiction Phrase - We've Been Robbed

Hi,
This week’s flash fiction is inspired from the week I had. Someone broke into my house and stole my laptops and USB drives, even the new one my mom bought me two months ago.
So, I hope you guys enjoy my little scene this week. I have no idea what might come across in it, but whatever it is, remember:
Let your imagination soar when you read.

“What the . . . Where is . . . Damn it!”
I ran into the other room, cursing with each step, knowing that if the one on the main desk was gone so was the others.
“What are you doing?” Racheal asked as I entered the master beroom, holding my breath praying I was wrong. I wasn’t.
“You going to . . .” Rachel’s words trailed off.
I didn’t have to look at her to know her eyes had drifted to the empty spot sitting on her desk.
“Where the fuck is my computer?”
There was the reaction I was waiting for. My spit-fire of a woman was as protective of her computer as she was me and her parents.
“What are you doing standing there?”
Something hit my upper arm, drawing my attention away from the barren spot where my external drive once resided. Another hard impact to my shoulder had me reaching up to rub it.
“Call the damn law. We’ve been robbed.”
I shook the roaring that has consumed my head from the fact that every bit of my hard work on the project for the Thompson account was gone. I’d forgotten to upload it to the cloud. Five months of work going poof. That’ll teach me to forget. That’ll teach me to not have my software set to automatically upload to the cloud.
 “Snap out it, Tommy.”
Rachael patted my cheek, a bit harder than necessary and then slammed the phone into my hand.
“Sooner the law gets here sooner we can find out who violated our home.”

Phrase Flash Fiction – Stronger than you seem

This week I chose a phrase I’ve been using since I started eating and living healthier. I hope this scene is enjoyable to you.

Hope you enjoy and remember:
Let your imagination soar when you read.

I felt it. I heard it. I saw it. Whatever it was. No way to miss it.

The air ripples with horizontal rain cold enough to freeze soon as it touched anything, warm, hot, or cool. Doesn’t matter to the abnormal weather. Huge purplish circles spaced equally apart are spread across the sky, blocking the sun from touching the spring grass. Flowing from the circles are what sounds like metal clanking against metal and an ear-shattering scream which is followed up by a whistle shrilling.

Even weirder than all that is the way the people around me is reacting. The toddler are screaming and clinging to their mothers, who are staring up at the sky, refusing to move. The grade school age kids are sitting around the twiddling their thumbs, literally. The teenagers are raiding any car or building they see. The adult males are fighting amongst one another.

A straight out scene from one of those movies where the world is facing a natural disaster or an alien invasion, and has gone to hell.

I look around hoping to spot someone not affected by the insanity plaguing earth right then. There was . . . “Ah, another not affected.”

I ran through the hoard of people, dodging a fist or two and jumping over children sitting on the ground.

“Hey, hey, you over there.” I shouted twice and the guy finally spun towards me.

“Thank god. Someone else actually function like a human.”

“You know what is going on?”

“No. Radio’s dead.” He held up a portable radio. “Cell’s aren’t working, either.”

“Seen anyone else?”

“No.” He held his hand out. “Name’s Alexander.”

“Jack. I’d like to say nice to meet you, but . . . well it is, but just not because of this.” I waved my hand around me. “What you thinks going on?”

“No clue, but sure makes me wonder why we aren’t acting like them.”

“Because,” a dark haired man materialized from thin air between us, making both of us jumped back. “Because you are stronger than you seem.”

I stood there staring the three hands the man twirled around as he spoke. Okay, the scene around me just jackknifed more into the unrealistic realm than a movie realm.

“What’s that mean?” Alexander propped is hands on his hips.

He asked a good question, but there was nothing in the crazy ass world that would have made me interact with the creature standing in front of me. Not only did he have three hands, he also had two visible blades strapped around his waist. I was sure he had at least one ore over his shoulder and maybe even one on his back. He wasn’t someone you messed with.

“Means what it means. And apparently . . .” The man’s eyes shifted to me. “Only one of you are smarter than I thought.”

Wasn’t sure if he meant Alexander, or me but I wasn’t going to ask either. If he wanted me to know then he’d tell me. Until then, my lips remained shut and I watched and gathered all that I could.

Flash Fiction Phrase Scene – Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend

Hi,

Hope all are enjoying the cooler weather. Rained here all weekend, but last week there was nice days to open the windows.

This weeks’ phrase isn’t really unique, but the scene I wrote for it is a bit unusual for my writing style. Hope you all enjoy it and remember:

Let your imagination soar when your read.

“Charlie! We have to go. Now!”

Danna couldn’t believe she’d gotten herself into such a predicament. Charlie, the Mayor’s daughter swore no one was home. Why had she listened to her? The girl was a class A liar with daddy issues.

Sirens blared as the police rushed to silence the alarm. Her ass was grass if she got caught and charged with breaking and entering. There might be two doing the crime, but only one would get pinched for it.

“Stop tugging on my arm. They’re not coming here. I set the alarm off a block away.”

Like she was gong to believe that. “Either get your ass a moving, or I’m leaving.”

“Such a baby.” Charlie snatched up a piled of cash from the safe. “Here, this’ll ease your nerves.”

She looked down at the stack of hundreds paper bound together. Sure was more than she’d ever seen in her life. Wasn’t worth going to jail over.

“I’m leaving, coming?”

“Not until I have what I came for.”

“Charlie, you’ve got a shit load of money, you don’t even need. What else do you want?”

The sirens were getting louder and louder. Reds and blues flashed from the main road, but instead of two wheeling into the driveway of the second biggest mansion in town they barreled by it.

“Told you. Have a bit of faith in me.” Half of Charlie’s arm disappeared into the six-foot high safe. “There’s the beauty.”

Donna stared at the rock Charlie held in front of her.

“This is worth more than either of us could spend.”

Donna stared stunned as Charlie stuffed the chunk of expensive rock into a black velvet bag she pulled from her pocket.

“Now, we can go.”

We left the way we came in and headed back to her car. Entire trip back all Donna thought of was, ‘Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend’.
