Underground World
Knowing I indirectly put my helpmate into a world of shit didn’t set well with me. The underground world had been created as a safe haven for supernatural creatures, who truly wished to return to their homeland. Most of which had been forced to the Earthlands for one reason, battle. Even I longed to return to my homeland of X-on. The bright green flooring of grass, with hordes of nevrending, blossoming trees for me to run barefoot though. Best of all was there were no restrictions on my usage of skills. Fragmenting myself and helping others from afar didn’t wane my reserves or tax my body. Problem was, I feared to return and find the land destroyed. After all, it’d been centuries since I’d been forced to leave. Same for TeaLeaf and Jag. Sham hadn’t been lucky enough to see X-on. His family, mainly his Uncle Tob had told him stories of home, which fueled his longing to reunite his family with the one place they desired, even after they disowned him for being gay.
“What is the underworld?” Beau leaned his head into the crook of my neck.
I sighed and opened my mouth to admit my mistake, but I couldn’t. The underworld wasn’t a mistake. It was necessary, but I should’ve prepared for many, many more mishaps.
“It is a place where supernatural creatures, who wish to return to our homeland X-on, await the day it is possible.” TeaLeaf pointed at himself, and everyone in the room, minus Beau and Chief Parker. “The day the foursome squad eliminates the hidden barrier the Spirit Council created.”
“You telling me that the supernatural creatures didn’t originate here.” Beau didn’t lift his head to look at anyone.
“No.” I said and rubbed his back. “Our leaders invaded Earth some four centuries ago. They remained hidden like wolves in sheep clothing until they found the weakness among the human race.”
“Then incited the Gutting War?” Sparks of electricity shot over my body when Beau shook his head. “Why? Was your . . . I mean our homeland dying?”
“Nope. More like they were power hungry.” For all the supernatural creatures knew their leaders simply lost their mind and became obsessed with proving their dominance over other worlds. Stupid ass reason that costed many lives, human and supernatural creatures.
“Were the rumors of death camps falsified?” Beau kissed my neck and then sat up in my lap.
“No. Once the humans discovered us, they wanted to harness our skills.” Jag scoffed. “Our leaders initial announcement of our existence didn’t go as planned.”
“Understatement.” Chief Parker grunted. “The imbeciles believed the humans would cower and bow to them simply because of our abilities.”
“Why would they think such?” Beau’s eyes knitted together. “Didn’t they see and read about all the times they attacked and defeated enemies?”
“Wished they had of.” I patted Beau’s hip and then let my hand rest there. “They believed themselves invisible because of our numbers and the fact they’d stashed many among the human kind for a century.”
“I’m missing something, I guess.” Beau glanced around the room, taking a moment to study each of their faces. “Why is the underworld needed if you gu - - - our kind entered with the purpose of overtaking Earth.”
Beau didn’t let us give him an answer. He groaned and threw his hands up. “They are dictators.” I nodded. “Am I safe to assume these leaders of X-on told only part truths to the humans.” Tealeaf and Jag nodded this time and I tightened my hold around Beau, who had begun shaking and opening and closing his hands. “What is true that I know about our kind? Do we really live longer lives? Do we have no weakness?” He shook his head. “We have to if the humans held and experimented on and killed many of us in these death camps. Why would any leaders do so?”
Beau hands had quit flinching and were know fisted, but I could see the black water leaking between his fingers. Jag, Sham, and Chief Parker must have taken notice of the ray of sunlight consuming the room, because they all made a beeline for the small closet in the room. TeaLeaf stood and made his way over to us. He laid a hand on Beau’s shoulder, making him flinch.
“Son, remember how I told you to deal with your anger?”
Beau nodded, but didn’t appear to be trying to hold back any. Didn’t surprise me as much as it should’ve. He’d been through a lot. Learned a lot in a matter of minutes. Still had a lot to take in. All of them had been stretched beyond their limits, which would play in the Spirit Council favor.
I’d originally thought the Spirit Council had set my coming to Dav Community up. No longer did. I was all but positive they hadn’t wanted the false Captain Stone to be discovered. I was sure they never made a plan of attack incase Captain Stone’s betrayal was unearthed. Question was, why hide Beau. How did he play into their ultimate take down of the underworld? TeaLeaf hadn’t started the underworld. I had. TeaLeaf and Jag was my stand in while me and Sham kept working for the Spirit Council to gain inside knowledge.
“Vain,” TeaLeaf snapped my name, for what I assumed was the second or third time.
“I’m here.”
“Then sooth my son like only you can.”

My eyes widened and when he motioned for the others to exit the room I kissed Beau deep and hard. There were still loads for the foursome squad to discuss, but TeaLeaf was right. I was the only one who could completely calm Beau and in return Beau would calm and replenish my energy as well. Everything else would have to wait, not like I minded having some major and intense loving time with my helpmate. Showing him who he belonged to was long overdue. Even if I’d wanted our first time somewhere special.

  1. Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days, work's been a bit hellish and I wanted time to read your story properly :)

Vain needs to help Beau heal - and the need to find out why Beau was hidden and who is behind the 'trap'. This is getting exciting :)
